Welcome and News. As it says. This is the front page of the handbook and will be the place where you will find important news.

Induction Week. Induction week Timetables and Instructions for new and returning students.

Programme Calander. A list of key dates to help you plan ahead, such as term dates, examination weeks, last dates for withdrawing and still getting your fees back,e tc.

Modules. Information about all the modules offered on the HND Computing programme.

Contacting People and Having Your Say. Contact details for the teaching team, the personal tutors, student reps and programme officers. There is also a link to the on-line timetables for both staff and students. The role of the programme committee is explained and the opportunity for student representation and feedback is described.

Common Skills. A guide to what these are and where they are assessed. Remember, you have to pass all seven to get your HND.

Programme Information. This links you to the HND Computing Programme Specification, which describes the programme regulations, the structure, and the learning outcomes. It describes what you have to pass to get any of the various awards on offer. In fact, pretty much anything you wanted to know about your programme of studies will be found here.

Regs on coursework, plagiarism and cheating. Make sure you know what we mean by plagiarism, collusion or cheating, and what happens if you fail to submit your own work on time at the right place.

When something goes wrong. Details of what to do if you are ill and miss an exam, for example, or some other misfortune befalls you that might influence your assessment on a module. There is also information about what to do if your work is late and the latest dates for withdrawing from modules. Finally, there is a quick guide to the University rules about referrals and deferrals and how, when and under what circumstances these are offered.

Academic References. Details about how to obtain a reference. Please note that we only issue academic references and these will contain only factual information about your studies and results. We cannot offer personal ro character references or make subjective comment on your reliability , punctuality, etc.

Change of Address. What to do if you move.

Past Notices. A collection of old news items.

Help, Advice and Info. A guide to the personal tutoring system on the programme and where to go for further help with your studies, accomodation, fees, medical matters, and so on.

Post HND Options. A guide to what you can do after your HND has come to an end, whether that be a job or further study.
